Welcome to Friends of the Nickey Line Approximately
7 miles long, the Nickey Line footpath and cycle way in Hertfordshire is a former railway
line (the Harpenden to Hemel Hempstead Railway) which provides a trail for cyclists and walkers. Read about its history, wildlife and see the maps. Join us below and we shall send you the great new map guide by return post. NEWS: M1 TUNNEL - WORK IN PROGRESS, CLOSURE Work is starting on setting up the long awaited lights. The tunnel should be usable however until August 11th: Wall repair after the vehicle fire and then painting are scheduled from Monday 11th August for 5 weeks. THE TUNNEL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THIS TIME.

Foray, Wednesday Starting at the bottom of Redbourn Lane at the by pass (grid reference TL 112 128), Alan Oaten, of the Herts Fungal Group, will be leading this walk up the Nickey Line towards Harpenden, possibly entering Knott Wood. Booking is essential. Contact Roger on 01582 763560.
